 What's the difference among 201 J series stainless steel products? Let me introduce for you:


201 J1 stainless steel: carbon content of 201 J1 stainless steel sheet coils is slightly higher than 201 J4 stainless steel and its copper content is lower than 201 J4 stainless steel. Because of lower processing performance than J4 stainless steel material, 201 J1 stainless steel is suitable for ordinary shallow drawing, deep drawing products large Angle type, such as decorative plate, bathroom products, sink, product pipe, etc.



201 J2, J5 stainless steel: their simple processing in decorative pipe is good, because the hardness of 201 J2 stainless steel and 201 J5 stainless steel is high (when processing temperature is above 96°), which become more beautiful after polishing, but when used in square pipe or in the bend (when processing temperature is 90°),  201 J2 stainless steel pipes and 201 J5 stainless steel sheet coils are easy to burst. In terms of the plate, because of the high hardness, the 201 J2 stainless steel and 201 J5 stainless steel plate surface are more beautiful, and surface treatment such as scrub, polishing, plating color are acceptable. But the biggest problem is bending, bending makes 201 J2 stainless steel sheets and 201 J5 stainless steel plates easy to fracture, planing groove easy to burst, so the ductility is not good.

201 J3 stainless steel: high carbon, low chromium and low copper content. Because of its high carbon content and less copper content, the material is slightly hard, so it does not adapt to the strength of slightly larger bending. Compared with 201 stainless steel J1 material, ductility is not so good, and it is easier to rust than 201 stainless steel J1 material in the same environment.

But in the field of stainless steel narrow strip coils, the emergence of 201 stainless steel J3 material is developed in order to deal with the corrosion resistance requirements of stainless steel pipe factory manufacturers when deformation requirements are not particularly of high demand. Because of its ability to reduce the cost of raw materials, it has been sought after by tube manufacturers in the narrow band strip coil field. 201 J3 stainless steel material can also be easily processed into decorative plate.


201 J4 stainless steel: 201 J4 stainless steel material belongs to high class of 201 stainless steel J series, suitable for deep drawing products of small angle type and deep stretching and salt spray test requirements, such as stainless steel sink, kitchenware, bathroom products, kettle, thermos cup, door hinge, cooker, etc.

From the above figure, we can see that the nickel and chromium compositions of 201 J series stainless steel products are not particularly different, or the law of increasing or decreasing. But in terms of carbon content and copper content, difference is the most obvious.

Copper content: J4 > J1 > J3 > J2 > J5;

The copper content of J4 stainless steel  is in the range of 1-1.5%;

The copper content of J1 stainless steel  is within 0.8-1%;

The copper content of J3 stainless steel  is in the range of 0.4-0.8%;

The copper content of J2/J5 stainless steel  is in the range of 0-0.4.

Copper content determines two factors of the product: rust resistance and product toughness.  The higher the copper content is, the stronger the rust resistance is and the stronger the toughness, the product is more suitable for deep processing, stretching and other process ways. The price of the product is proportional to the amount of copper in the product. The higher the amount of copper is, the more expensive the price is. Stainless steel pipe with high copper content is more suitable for making stainless steel products of different shapes.


Carbon content: J5 > J2 > J3 > J1 > J4;

The higher the carbon content is, the harder the stainless steel product is, of course, also brittle, easy to crack when bending, so the same high carbon content of stainless steel pipe will be easier to rust than the low carbon content of stainless steel pipe.
